Poncey-Highland

This exciting and eclectic neighborhood gets its character from two main landmarks—the winding Freedom Park with its tranquil trails and the artsy edge of Ponce de Leon Avenue.

The Poncey part of the neighborhood encompasses some of Atlanta’s most eclectic afterhours haunts. They’re a tongue-in-cheek send up to harder times in the neighborhood, when Ponce City Market was a vacant Sears Factory. Here you’ll find beers at Beltline Kroger, the Hotel Clermont with its legendary lounge, the art house Plaza Theatre, the Righteous Room and the cozy Bookhouse Pub. Along North Avenue, check out New Realm Brewing, the political hotspot Manuel’s Tavern, vintage finds at Highland Row Antiques, and Videodrome, the last old-school video rental store in town.

The Beltline runs right by this exciting slice of a neighborhood, which is chock-full of trails, culture and great places to live, including the Ford Factory Lofts, the Telephone Factory Lofts and numerous little streets with historic cottages just calling your name. Oh, and don’t forget to check out the Carter Center, founded by our 39th president and his wife, and its popular weekend farmers market.
